In reception and Key Stage 1 the children follow a two year rolling programme. They develop their Knowledge, Skills and Understanding through the following topics:

Light and Dark – We learn about The Gunpowder Plot and Remembrance Day.

Wonderful Witterings – We investigate how the local area has changed.

Houses and Homes – We learn about Bedrooms and how toys have changed from the past and what homes were like long ago.

Eat It – We learn about Great Fire of London and Remembrance Day.

Happy holidays – We learn about seaside holidays in the past.

 

In Key Stage 2 the children follow a four year rolling programme. They continue to

develop their Knowledge, Skills and Understanding through the following topics:

 

Out of this World – Race to Space including first man on the moon.

Tombs and Treasures – We learn about Ancient Egyptian society, chronology and how its legacy has affected us.

Fire and Ice – We learn about explorers from the past.

Raiders and Invaders – We are learning about the Romans, Anglo Saxons and Vikings and their invasions of the British Isles.

Twentieth Century Britain – We learn about Britain during the war and throughout the twentieth century.

Our Heritage – Development of the Witterings and History of Chichester.

The Tutors – We learn about the daily life of a Tudor and Henry VIII.

Storms and Shipwrecks – We learn about the Titanic, local shipwrecks, development of boats over time. We also learn about Lifeboats.
